Would you say you inspire yourself? What about others? Before you say no, stop and define what inspirational means to you. Is it living your values? If so, what are your values? Is it accomplishing goals? If so, what are your goals and in what way(s) does that inspire you and make the world a better place?
I suspect some folks will look at this sign and think they’re too busy, or not ______ enough to be inspirational to others. That may be true, but I think the bigger “ah ha” for people should be that inspiration is paradoxical; if you’re not inspiring yourself, you will likely not inspire others.
When you’re living your life fully aligned with your values, and in a way that advances your life purpose aspirations, you’re going to be lit up. You’re going to take on bigger risks, create substance from nothing, stand tall when others cower, and generally face your fears in such a way that you end up playing a bigger and bigger game.
If you’re a leader inside an organization, ask yourself if you’re living an inspired life inside and outside work. On a scale between 1 – 10, what kind of human “multiplier” is your own personal inspiration to others? How inspired are you by the work you’re doing and that of your team?
For me, one of the most powerful reasons to work with a coach is to help people gain clarity on what inspires them, and to use that inspiration to positively lead themselves and others to make a more positive impact on the world.
